After the Exam

Understanding Your Score

How Scores Are Reported

Your results are reported as scaled scores based on a clearly defined passing standard. This scoring system ensures fairness and consistency across all administrations of the examination. A passing score confirms that you have demonstrated the minimum level of competency required for safe and effective practice.

Score Availability: Scores are released on scheduled dates and can be accessed online through the Score Release Dates page.

Access Your Score: Log in to your candidate portal at Meazure Connect to view and download your official scores.

  • Passing Standard: A scale score of 75 represents the minimum standard of professional practice required to pass.
  • Criterion-Referenced Scoring: Scores are not graded on a curve; performance is measured against established standards of competence rather than the performance of other candidates.
  • Diagnostic Indicators:
    • Below the level of minimum competence
    • At or above the level of minimum competence
  • Score Reporting: NBPME provides examination results to candidates, schools, and CASPR.
  • Exam Attempts: NBPME does not limit the number of examination attempts; however, individual state licensing boards may impose their own restrictions.

Additional Information: For further details regarding score interpretation and examination policies, please refer to the Policies & Procedures Manual.

Requesting Official
Score Report

To request confirmation of your APMLE Examination passing score:

  • If you have tested with Meazure, you can request that your scores be sent to any email address through your Connect Portal at any time.
  • If you took an examination with Prometric, please communicate with NBPME here. NBPME will assist in providing those scores. Please provide your full name, the name of the podiatric medical school you attended, and the year you graduated. Please also provide the state board, residency program, or other location where score confirmation is to be sent.

Score Recheck Process

Every exam is automatically and rigorously verified for accuracy. However, if you want additional assurance, you may request a recheck of your score.

  • Submit a recheck request form through Meazure’s Connect portal
  • Pay the recheck fee
  • Receive official confirmation of your recheck outcome
  • NOTE: Because of strict scoring procedures, a recheck rarely results in a change to your score.

Appeals & Irregular Behavior

  • Appeals Process: You may appeal limited issues, such as administrative or procedural errors, within the timeline set in the Policies & Procedures manual.
  • Irregular Behavior: Misconduct, cheating, or policy violations can result in score invalidation.
  • Candidate Responsibility: Review the Policies & Procedures manual carefully to understand all rules and policies.
